About Us
Mary's Angels was founded in 1989 by Mary Austin and Diana Rabenold, in Aptos, California, on the beautiful central coast of that state.
We import handcarved wooden statues, figures, and decorative art from The Philippines, a country long and widely known for its beautiful handicrafts and its master wood carvers.
Our wooden art is carved principally from acacia wood, a nonendangered local resource, and from tropical fruitwoods harvested from trees felled by the annual monsoons.
We operated a wholesale/retail store in Sand City, California, just next to Monterey, from 1994 until 2004, when we moved to New Mexico. From 2004 until 2009, we sold our products at the Tesueque Pueblo Flea Market just outside Santa Fe, New Mexico. We now sell to various wholesale outlets, and to the public by appointment, at our storage facility on the north side of Albuquerque, just off Highway 25.
Mary Austin is also a painter. Her work can be viewed and purchased on her website, www.artbymaryaustin.com, or by calling her in person at: 505-323-1999.
Diana Rabenold is also a graduate student in anthropology at the University of New Mexico, and has just completed her Masters Degree.
